On September 8, 2022, Mr. Ittipol Khunpluem, Minister of Culture, presided over the opening ceremony of the traveling seminar project to promote filmmaking in order to promote arts, culture, and tourism at the D Varee Jomtien Beach Hotel, Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Also present were Mrs. Yupa Taweewattanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; Ms. Thitilak Khampa, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province; Mr. Parames Ngampicheth, Mayor of Pattaya; Mr. Krisana Boonsawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya; along with the Mayor's secretary, members of the Pattaya City Council, heads of government departments, and other distinguished guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, there is a growing interest in consuming online entertainment media, making it easier to access and consume art and culture through popular platforms such as YouTube and Netflix. This has resulted in job creation and income generation for Thailand. Furthermore, Pattaya City has signed a memorandum of understanding with 12 other organizations to promote its inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, specifically as a City of Film, by 2027. Pattaya has also continuously undertaken activities to support this goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Ministry of Culture organized a traveling seminar to promote filmmaking, arts, culture, and tourism from September 6-8, 2022. The seminar aimed to raise awareness of factors contributing to Pattaya's attractiveness as a film and television production destination for both Thai and international productions, and the roles of both the public and private sectors in the area. Key speakers included Mr. Itthiphol Khunpluem, Minister of Culture, who delivered special lectures on topics such as "The Role of the Ministry of Culture in Promoting Pattaya as a Film Industry Hub in the Eastern Region of Thailand," and Mr. Parames Ngampicheth, Mayor of Pattaya, who discussed Pattaya's readiness to become a film city through collaboration between local government agencies and in promoting Pattaya as a film and television production location and a film industry center. Many other topics were discussed, fostering exchange of experiences and collaborative efforts to promote filmmaking for the advancement of arts, culture, and tourism in Pattaya. The goal was to raise awareness of the factors that make Pattaya a desirable location for film and television production, encouraging private sector participation in the film industry, which is crucial for disseminating arts and culture and promoting tourism worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
