On August 29, 2026, Mr. Kris Phumisuvarn, Manager of the Pattaya Tourism Authority of Thailand (PATAT), along with Mr. Thanakorn Phumichit, Deputy Manager of PATAT Pattaya, and staff, participated in the “Pattaya Film Festival,” a contemporary film and arts and culture festival under the project to elevate Pattaya's status as a UNESCO Creative City of Film. The event was chaired by Ms. Yutika Isarangkun Na Ayutthaya, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, and attended by representatives from government agencies, the private sector, businesses, citizens, and tourists. The festival took place at Pattaya Central Beach, Chonburi Province, from August 28-30, 2026, at Major Cineplex Avenue Pattaya and Pattaya Central Beach. Activities included a creative city market, booths from businesses and tourism operators, business matching workshops, film seminars, film screenings, and outdoor film screenings. To promote learning and create opportunities for entrepreneurs and young people in the film industry, this event aims to connect film with tourism, the economy, and culture, while pushing Pattaya toward the goal of becoming "Pattaya Creative City of Film" within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network by 2027, and further developing it into a regional film industry hub in ASEAN.
