The Pattaya Film Festival 2024 has begun!! A festival that transforms Pattaya into a city of film. August 21-25, 2024.
Mr. Prachya Unpetchwarakorn, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province, officially opened the Pattaya Film Festival 2024 on August 21, 2024, at the activity area on the 1st floor of Central Marina Pattaya. He was welcomed by Mr. Parames Ngampicheth, Mayor of Pattaya City. The event included an opening seminar on the topic of “Pattaya…” The seminar, "On Location: Developing Pattaya as a Filming Location," featured a panel discussion with Mr. Anucha Boonyavadhana, President of the Thai Film Directors Association; Mr. Wasuthep Ketpetch, director of the film "She for Cash"; and Mr. Thanes Warakulnukroh, an actor.
The Pattaya Film Festival offers a wide range of engaging activities throughout the festival, including: free screenings of 26 films at SF Cinema Central Marina, Major Cineplex Pattaya Avenue, the Church of the Redeemer Convention Center, and outdoor screenings at Lan Pho Park, Naklua Market; film seminars featuring speakers from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Thailand; a Masterclass seminar with emerging directors from Malaysia; a Documentary Pitch competition with international mentors and prizes totaling 300,000 baht; a Micro Cinema Meeting for small-scale film organizers nationwide to network film audiences; school cinema screenings for students and young audiences accompanied by discussions and lectures; a Film Trip taking festival guests to visit film shooting locations in Pattaya; and the film competition and judging of outstanding films.
Competing for a prize of 5,000 USD and a trophy, with judges from Malaysia, Portugal, and Thailand.
The Pattaya Film Festival is one of Pattaya's long-term projects aimed at transforming the city into a "City of Film" under UNESCO's Creative Cities policy. The festival's policy goes beyond simply attracting Thai and international film crews to use Pattaya as a filming location; it also aims to foster a culture of using film as a means of cultural expression, boosting economic value, and utilizing film for educational purposes, fostering an appreciation for the diversity and possibilities of free expression among audiences.
