Mr. Sonthaya Khunpluem, Mayor of Pattaya City, presided over the opening of a large-scale awareness-raising and feedback session at the provincial level in Pattaya City. This event was part of a study on the city's potential and suitability for development into a UNESCO Creative Cities network. Mr. Sutharak Sunthornwipat, Manager of Special Area 3, DASTA (Department of Sustainable Tourism Development Administration), reported on the objectives of the event. Attendees included Ms. Wasana Pongsapan, Director of the Tourism Capacity Building Office, DASTA; Air Chief Marshal Athikun Kongmee, Director of DASTA; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anucha Teerakhanon, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Thammasat University; Mr. Rattanachai Sutthidechanai, representative from the Central and Eastern Regions, DASTA; experts; and representatives from relevant agencies. The event took place at Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel, Chonburi Province.
The event was divided into two parts. The first part featured a special lecture on "Pattaya's Journey to Becoming a UNESCO Creative City in Film," delivered by Dr. Chuwit Mitchob, Deputy Director of the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Development Administration (DASTA). This was followed by a summary of the results of the local focus group consultations, along with an exchange and feedback session from all sectors regarding Pattaya's potential to become a Creative City in Film (Round 1). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anucha Teerakhanon, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Thammasat University, presented the summary. The afternoon session included presentations on the importance of Creative Cities by Ms. Kamolrat Chayamarit, Cultural Officer, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and a presentation on "Building Knowledge and Understanding of Creative Cities" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peeradorn Kaewlai, Faculty Member, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University. This was followed by another exchange and feedback session from all sectors regarding Pattaya's potential to become a Creative City in Film (Round 2).
This is to ensure that awareness-raising activities for large groups in Pattaya City are conducted in accordance with their objectives and align with Pattaya City's development policies.
