Pattaya City organized the THE 48 HOUR YOUNG FILM MAKER PROJECT PATTAYA camp.

Pattaya City held the opening ceremony for THE 48 HOUR YOUNG FILM MAKER PROJECT PATTAYA camp. Mr. Siwat Boonkird, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Pattaya City, representing the Mayor, officially opened the camp, which is part of a pilot project for film studies in schools under the Pattaya City administration for the 2024 fiscal year. Relevant officials, educational personnel, teachers, and students from schools under the Pattaya City administration participated in the event at the Eastern Grand Palace Hotel Pattaya.

Pattaya City, through its Educational Supervision Unit of the Education Department, in collaboration with UNESCO's Creative Cities Network, including Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Development (DASTDA) Region 3 Pattaya, TCCN, Perfect Link Consulting Group Co., Ltd., and the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Thammasat University, is organizing THE 48 HOUR YOUNG FILM MAKER PROJECT PATTAYA. This pilot project for film studies in schools under the Pattaya City administration will take place from December 16-18, 2024, at the Eastern Grand Palace Hotel Pattaya. The three-day, two-night workshop will be held for 95 participants, including educational personnel, teachers, and students from 95 schools under the Pattaya City administration. The objectives are to evaluate and improve the film studies curriculum for schools, enhance 21st-century learning competencies through short filmmaking, promote student self-discovery, and cultivate a sense of local pride in Pattaya.

For the short film project in the 2023 academic year, the organizing committee assigned the trainees to create short films that tell stories about Pattaya City based on six themes:

1. Waste management must begin at the source, with collaborative efforts.

2. The image of equality for gender diversity.

3. The fun of the various festivals held in Pattaya.

4. Environmentally friendly transportation systems.

5. An increasing number of elderly people who are healthy but live in loneliness.

6. Children are key leaders in building creative cities.

The event featured expert filmmakers, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Chuthamas Wisalsingh and her team, who provided knowledge and guidance on various aspects of filmmaking, from scriptwriting and filming to editing. A showcase of the participants' work was also held under the theme of "Mini Film Fest 2023."

The film curriculum developed by schools under the Pattaya City administration is a significant and interesting undertaking, aligning with the government's Soft Power policy to promote filmmaking for the advancement of arts, culture, and tourism. It also supports the Better Pattaya policy, specifically Goal 4: preparing human resources, developing the city's education system into alternative schools for career development, and fostering a digital mindset to enable Pattaya's youth to thrive in a digital economy and society on an equal footing. A key objective of this development is to contribute to Pattaya's progress towards becoming a UNESCO Creative Cities Network City of Film by 2027.
