On May 10, 2023, Mr. Parames Ngampicheth, Mayor of Pattaya City, presided over the opening ceremony of the 27th Annual Meeting of the South East Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archive Associations (SEAPAVAA). The Thai Film Archive (Public Organization) has been honored to host the 27th Annual General Meeting of the South East Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archive Associations (SEAPAVAA), scheduled to take place from May 8-13, 2023, at the Mahathai Convention Centre in Pattaya City, Chonburi Province. Pattaya City is co-supporting the meeting with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Development Administration (Public Organization). This marks the fifth time Thailand has had the honor of hosting this event, with the Mahathai Convention Centre in Pattaya City, Chonburi Province, chosen as the venue.
This initiative aims to promote Pattaya City and drive its mission towards becoming a UNESCO Creative Cities in Film Network and a hub for the film industry, in line with Pattaya's area development strategy. It also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of film and audiovisual media preservation in Thai society, build knowledge about film and audiovisual preservation and related topics, and disseminate this knowledge to the public nationally and internationally, while simultaneously creating a network for film-related work.
The event included keynote lectures on "Global audiovisual archive: a call for collaboration and sustainability" by Ms. Glovania Fossati from EYE Filmmuseum and "High Productivity Digitization" by Jim Lindner and David Barnard. Furthermore, from May 8-13, 2023, there will be workshops on audiovisual preservation, archival work, a professional seminar for film and audiovisual conservators, and an international conference for member countries.
