Pattaya City promotes film learning potential for youth in Pattaya, moving forward to become a creative city in film.

On August 29, 2024, the Mayor of Pattaya assigned Mr. Nophasit Cha Na Nakorn, Director of the Education Office, to preside over the opening ceremony of the Pattaya Youth Film Studies Program for the 2024 fiscal year at Le Bali Resort & Spa. Mr. Wasan Sukhee and Mr. Jirawat Plukjai, members of the Pattaya City Council, also attended the ceremony. Mr. Komkrit Niraphan, Head of the Children and Youth Activities Division, presented the report. Heads of government departments, personnel from the Education Office, the team of lecturers, and students from schools under the Pattaya City administration also participated in the opening ceremony.
🎬 Pattaya City, through its Education Division and Children and Youth Activities Department, has a policy to promote activities for children and youth in Pattaya City. This includes enhancing learning potential, participation, and developing filmmaking ideas for the film industry, in preparation for Pattaya's entry into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Therefore, the city organized the Pattaya Youth Film Studies Program for the 2024 fiscal year, held from August 29th to September 1st, 2024 at Le Bali Resort & Spa, and on September 6th, 2024 at SF Cinema Terminal 21 Pattaya. The objectives were to enhance film studies and participation among Pattaya City personnel and students, developing their knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes towards becoming citizens of a Creative City; to utilize film as a learning medium, enriching their experiences beyond the classroom; to develop filmmaking ideas; and to collaboratively produce short films to promote Pattaya's image and raise awareness of its preparations for UNESCO's Creative Cities initiative.
🎬Today's activities are part of a short film production training camp for youth, part of the Pattaya Short Film Festival Showcase project. The topics covered include: Introduction to Screenwriting; Understanding Short Films (explaining the concepts and characteristics of short film scripts – Structure, Length, Themes); Story Ideation (using the Story BOWL tool to generate ideas for short film stories); Plotting and storytelling structure (Three-Act Structure, Plot Points); and writing short film scripts based on developed storylines and characters. This is followed by activities involving sharing and receiving feedback from group members, as well as revising and improving the scripts. Mr. Nontakorn Taweesuk from TECNA (The Thai Entertainment Professional Network Association), Mr. Mays Yimsumboon from Story BOWL, and the project mentors served as instructors for the participating youth.
